Head Start prepares children for kindergarten by enhancing the social and cognitive development of a child through the provision of educational, health, nutritional, social and other services. Throughout the program year, RMSER’s teaching staff implements the Creative Curriculum. This curriculum is based on valid science-based research and standardized training procedures, and curriculum materials to support implementation. It also promotes school readiness in the areas of language and cognitive development, early reading and math skills, social-emotional development, physical development and approaches to learning and is aligned with the Head Start Child Outcomes Framework.
Head Start supports parents as they identify their own strengths, needs and interests. The importance of building a trusting, collaborative relationship between parents and staff is emphasized from time of enrollment. In order to provide the highest level of service to children and families, RMSER Head Start partners with many agencies within each community with the recognition that many other agencies and groups may be working with these same families.
