RMSER Disabilities Services

RMSER Disabilities Services Promotes Inclusion and School Readiness

RMSER Early Learning Centers are dedicated to the inclusion and school readiness of all children, regardless of their existing skills, abilities, backgrounds, or knowledge. We work with school districts/BOCES to implement strategies to identify and support children exhibiting developmental concerns, individualize teaching strategies, increase access and participation for all children in learning settings, increase school readiness skills, and enhance relationships among children and all of the adults in their lives.

Why is it important to identify developmental concerns for children early in their educational career?

Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) or Individualized Education Program (IEP)

Using the goals outlined in a child's Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) or Individualized Education Program (IEP) is part of effective teaching, individualizing, and creating inclusive environments to support children’s positive outcomes. If family, care givers, medical providers, and/or center staff have concerns about a child’s development, RMSER works with school districts/BOCES to support families through the referral process, which may include formal child evaluations, family interviews, and record reviews, which can result in a potential IEP.
Service providers from local school districts/BOCES provide the same high-quality IEP/IFSP services to RMSER students in their classrooms that they would receive in a public school.
