Education Manager
- Manages and directs the educational component of Early Childhood Development and Health Services in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards. Provides direction, leadership among education staff in all (5) RMSER Head Start service areas. Develops and directs the implementation of a quality educational/developmental program for all Service Areas.
The responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Directly supervises all Education Coordinators and through them, the remainder of education staff.
- In collaboration with the Head Start Director and RMSER Chief Financial Officer, develops annual budgets for educational services to children and tracks progress of expenditures, developing monthly reports.
· Works closely with other Program Managers to develop and manage the overall Head Start program, with special attention given to facility and playground design.
- Assures education staff receives training in specific curriculum development and assessment of children’s learning.
- Implements and manages compliance with Federal Guidelines and Performance Standards as well as State and local regulations.
- Meets regularly with Education Coordinators and with Teaching Staff on a routine basis, to provide mentoring and technical support.
- Implements a professional development program for evaluating teachers’ needs, setting goals and determining training needs.
- Regularly attends meetings and trainings to stay current with supervisory methods and developmentally appropriate practices, teaching methods and any other early childhood practices.
- Ensures that ethnic and cultural backgrounds are appropriately recognized and integrated into the curriculum and classrooms.
- Works collaboratively with the Disability/Mental Health Manager to ensure proper identification and delivery of services for children identified with a special need.
- Oversees the developmental screening of all enrolled children, which includes the training of staff.
- Provides mentoring and coaching to education staff on issues such as employee conflict resolution, supervision, and personnel requirements.
- Demonstrates responsible professional behavior by participating effectively within and across teams and within community collaborations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum Education:
Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education or
- Certificates/Licenses:
Valid Driver’s License
First Aid and CPR Certification
Food Handlers Card
- Special Training or Experience:
Demonstrated ability to manage and direct a multidisciplinary team approach to education. Knowledge and experience with current social and economic issues. Experience in evaluating and decision-making and in responding resourcefully under varying conditions. Five (5) years experience in teaching, preferably preschool, in an economically disadvantaged area. Bi-lingual skills are helpful, but not essential. Five (5) plus years in a similar position or equivalent position with senior supervisory experience.
